British Columbia Population by religion
The largest faith in British Columbia is Christianity. About two-fifths of the British Columbia population (34.3%), reported that they were affiliated with a Christian religion. Non-Christian faiths account for 13.6%, and the remaining 52.1% are classified as unaffiliated, which can mean agnostic, atheist, or “nothing in particular.”
With immigration, there were growing proportions of the population who reported religious affiliations other than Christianity. These religions included Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, and Buddhist.

Roughly 52.1% or half of the British Columbia population had no religious affiliation, the second largest among all the Candian provinces.
With immigration patterns, there were growing proportions of the population who reported religious affiliations other than Christian. These religions included Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, and Buddhist. In 2021, about 12.4% of the British Columbia population, reported affiliation with one of these religions.
Sikhism is the second-largest religion in British Columbia. In 2021, people who identified themselves as Sikh made up 5.95% of the population, Buddhist 1.7%, Muslim 2.6% & Hindu 1.7%. Indigenous religions are at 0.2% and other small faiths account for 1% of the population.

Roman Catholics were the largest Christian religious group in 2021. About 588,140 or 12% of people identified themselves as Roman Catholic. Its followed by the various branches of Protestantism and collectively followed by 480,345 adherents or 9.7% of the population.
Next comes the Orthodox Christians at 0.9%, Jehovah’s Witnesses (0.5%), Latter Day Saints (0.3%), and various other non-specified Christians.

Anglican Church is the largest and it has 137,485 adherents or 2.8% of the British Columbia population followed by the United Church (2.6%) and Baptist (1.2%).
