Overview of Quebec's Largest Cities by Population
Quebec, the second largest province by population in Canada, features significant cities. Montreal, the biggest with about 1.7 million people, offers diverse cultures and attractions. Quebec City, the capital, has around 533,000 people, known for its historic charm. Laval, with about 430,000 people, is close to Montreal. These cities thrive with vibrant communities and offer a range of activities for residents and visitors.
Although the terms “city” and “town” are both used in the category name because of common English usage, Quebec does not contain any cities under the current law; they are designated as villes, regardless of whether they are referred to as cities or towns in English.
