Christianity is the majority religion in Finland, followed by 68.6% of the Finnish population. Among Christians, 5.5 million or 66.6% of the Finnish population are members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland (Protestant). The rest follows Finnish Orthodox Christians (1.1%), and other Christians are at 0.9%.
30.6% are unaffiliated or don’t follow any religion, and 0.8% follow other religions like Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, folk religion, etc.

Finland Historical Population
At the start of the 20th century, Finland’s population was close to 2.7 million & it saw good steady growth till the 1960s & reached 4.5 million. After that growth slowed but it remained on the positive side & stands at 5.5 million in 2020.
Recent population growth is attributed to immigration despite having low birth rates in Finland. As of 2019, there were 423,494 people with a foreign background living in Finland (7.7% of the population), most of whom are from the former Soviet Union, Estonia, Somalia, Iraq, and former Yugoslavia.
