Italian Ancestry in United States
Italian Americans are Americans who have full or partial Italian ancestry. People of Italian ancestry form an important group in several countries in North and South America. In the United States census of 2020, 16.55 million people self-identified as being fully or partly of Italian ancestry. and form the fourth largest group among White Americans after English, Germans, and Irish. According to the United States Ancestry Census 2020, there were 16,549,022 (5.07% of the U.S. population) people of Italian descent in the U.S.

Top US States by Italian Population
Population-wise, New York has the largest number of people with Italian ancestry (2,320,549), followed by Pennsylvania (1,430,006), California (1,414,190), New Jersey (1,336,455), and Florida (1,222,217).
Percentage-wise top US states with Italian Ancestry are Connecticut (16.54%), Rhode Island (16.34%), New Jersey (15.04%), Massachusetts(12.01%), and New York (11.89%).

Top U.S Cities by Italian population
Italian was the largest group in several counties in New Jersey and the Long Island area of New York. Italian was also the largest group in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, New Haven County, Connecticut and Guaynabo Municipio, Puerto Rico. The largest Italian population (360,345) was in Suffolk County, New York on Long Island.
New York Metro area with 2,164,967 people of Italian ancestry, has the largest population of Italian Americans. It’s followed by Philadelphia (737,153) and the Chicago metro area (574,683).

Italian Ancestry in Americas

Italian Canadians are Canadians who have full or partial Italian ancestry. Italian Canadians account for about 4.61% of the total population of Canada According to the Canadian Census 2020, there were 1,587,970 (1.58 million) people of Italian descent in Canada.

Italian Argentines
Italian Argentines are Argentines who have full or partial Italian ancestry. Italian is the largest ethnic origin of modern Argentines, and It is estimated that up to 25 million Argentines have some degree of Italian ancestry (62.5% of the total population).
The Italian population in Argentina is the third largest in the world and the second largest (after Brazil) outside of Italy. Italians form a majority of the population of Argentina and neighboring Uruguay: up to two-thirds have some Italian background. Among Latin American countries, only Brazil has more people of Italian descent (28 million, approximately 15 percent of Brazil’s total population).
According to 2011 estimates the country had 25 million Argentines with some degree of Italian ancestry in a total population of 40 million.
Italians are greatly concentrated in the city of Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires Province, Santa Fe Province, Entre Ríos Province, Córdoba Province, Tucumán Province, La Pampa Province, and the nearby country of Uruguay.

Italian Brazilians
Italian Brazilians are Brazilians who have full or partial Italian ancestry. Italian Brazilians account for about 15% of the total population of Brazil and are the largest number of people with full or partial Italian ancestry outside Italy. São Paulo is the most populous city with Italian ancestry in the world.
According to Estimates, there were 32 million people of Italian descent in Brazil.
The main areas of Italian settlement in Brazil were the Southern and Southeastern Regions, namely the states of São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais.
