As per the World Population Prospects report by the United Nations, the estimated population of Scotland in 2022 is 5.6 million. According to the Population projections by the Office for National Statistics,  The population of Scotland in 2024 was estimated to be 5,470,824 (5.47 million)

Religion in Scotland

Christianity is the largest religion in Scotland followed by 53.8% of the population. Among Christians, the Church of Scotland has the largest number of followers and is followed by 32.4% of the population. Next comes the Catholic Church, 15.9% of the Scottish population are its adherents. Other Christians are at 5.5% of the population.

Non-Christian faiths account for 2.6%, and the remaining 43.7% are classified as unaffiliated, which can mean agnostic, atheist, or “nothing in particular.”

Other Religion includes Islam (1.4%), Hinduism (0.3%), Buddhism (0.2%),  Sikhism (0.2%), Judaism(0.1%), and other smaller faiths. Minority faiths include Modern Paganism and the Baháʼí Faith.
