The United Kingdom includes the island of Great Britain, the north-eastern part of the island of Ireland, and many smaller islands within the British Isles.
The population of the UK at mid-year 2020 was estimated to be 67,081,234 (67.1 million), an increase of about 284,000 (0.4%) since mid-year 2019. As per the World Population Prospects report by the United Nations, the estimated population of the United Kingdom in 2024 is 67,961,440 (68 million)*

In the year to mid-2020, we estimate that 622,000 people immigrated to the UK while 375,000 emigrated; this makes net international migration 247,000.

English Ancestry in America
People of English ancestry form an important group in several countries in North and South America. With an estimated size of approximately 25 million in 2020, English Americans are the third largest of the self-reported ancestry groups in the United States.
