It is one of the Baltic states; and is bordered by Estonia to the north, Lithuania to the south, Russia to the east, and Belarus to the southeast, and shares a maritime border with Sweden to the west. Religion in Latvia
Christianity is the majority religion in Latvia and is followed by 78.9% of the population. Lutheranism is the main Christian denomination having 34.2% of the population as its adherents. Next comes Roman Catholicism (24.1%), and Russian Orthodox Church (17.8%).
Other Christian faiths account for 2.8%, and the remaining 21.10% are classified as unaffiliated, which can mean agnostic, atheist, or “nothing in particular.”
