In 2020, the White alone (non-Hispanic) population was the largest racial or ethnic group in Nevada, comprising 45.93% of the total population. It was followed by the Hispanic or Latino population whose share was 28.68%.
Black or African American was the third largest group at 13.66%. Asian population also has a good percentage in Nevada with a share of 8.57%. Two or more races are at 5.38%.

Europeans in Nevada
Non-Hispanics Whites account for nearly 45.93% of Nevada’s population. German, Irish, English, and Italians have made up the largest European ancestry groups in Nevada. As per the Census report, German Americans made up 9.1% of the population and numbered 279,000 people.
Irish Americans made up 7.4% of the population and numbered over 228,700. English Americans made up 6.7% of the population and numbered close to 206,125 followed by Italian ancestry at 4.7% of the population and numbered close to 145,458.
Hispanics and Latinos in Nevada
Hispanics and Latinos are the second-largest groups in Nevada after non-Hispanic white. Around 26.68% of Nevada’s Population claim Hispanic or Latin American ethnicity. The Largest groups are Mexican (21.4%), Puerto Rican (0.9%), Cuban (1.0%), and other Hispanic or Latino origin (4.8%).
In Douglas, Mineral, and Pershing counties, a plurality of residents are of Mexican ancestry, with Clark County (Las Vegas) alone being home to over 200,000 Mexican Americans. Las Vegas is home to rapid-growing ethnic communities, including Spaniards. As per Census reports Hispanics are the majority in Jackpot (55.6%) and West Wendover (61.7%), and are the main (though not the majority) ethnic or racial group in Sunrise Manor (48.5%) and Winchester (44.6%).
African Americans in Nevada
As of 2020, those of African ancestry accounted for 9.40% of Nevada’s population. Clark County has the highest percentage of the Black population with 13.1%. Next comes 3.7 % in Nye County, 2.8% in Washoe County, and even smaller percentages in the remaining counties.
Asian Americans in Nevada
Asian Americans are a sizable minority group in Nevada. Americans of Asian descent formed 8.57% of the population. Its ethnic Asian population has grown rapidly since the late 1990s; the majority is Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese, and Indian.
Filipino Americans form the largest Asian American group in the state and They comprise 56.5% of the Asian American population in Nevada and constitute about 4.3% of the entire state’s population
Native Americans in Nevada
Native Americans made up 0.75% of Nevada’s population and number over 23,392 individuals as of 2020. Native American tribes in Nevada are the Northern and Southern Paiute, Western Shoshone, Goshute, Hualapai, Washoe, and Ute tribes.
Pacific Islanders in Nevada
Americans with origins from the Pacific Islands are the smallest minority in Nevada. They made up 0.74 percent of Nevada’s population and number over 22,970 individuals as of 2020.
Multi-Race in Nevada
Multiracial individuals are also a visible minority in Nevada. People identifying as multiracial form 5.38% percent of the population, and number around 166,921 people. The number of Nevadans who identify as two or more races has more than tripled over the past decade.
