Saint Martin is an island in the northeast Caribbean Sea. The 87-square-kilometer (34 sq mi) island is divided roughly 60:40 between the French Republic (53 km2, 20 sq mi) and the Kingdom of the Netherlands (34 km2, 13 sq mi)

The southern Dutch part comprises Sint Maarten constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Caribbean. The northern French part comprises the Collectivity of Saint Martin and is an overseas collectivity of the French Republic.

The southern Dutch part of Saint Martin islands is known as Sint Maarten’s constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Caribbean. Sint Maarten has a population growth rate during 2020-2021 of 1.41%. Sint Maarten  population in 2023 is 44,308.

The northern French part comprises the Collectivity of Saint Martin which is an overseas collectivity of the French Republic. Saint Martin has a population growth rate during 2020-2021 of 1.52%. Sint Maarten  population in 2023 is 32,337.

Religion in Sint Maarten

Sint Maarten presents a diverse religious landscape, with various faiths contributing to the cultural fabric of the island. Roman Catholicism is the largest religious group, encompassing 33.1% of the population. Pentecostalism and Methodism follow, representing 14.7% and 10.0%, respectively. A notable portion, 7.9%, identifies with no specific religious affiliation. The religious mosaic includes communities such as Seventh-day Adventists (6.6%), Hindus (5.2%), Christians (4.1%), Baptists (4.7%), Anglicans (3.1%), and individuals who chose not to respond (2.4%). Other Protestant denominations make up 2.8%, while smaller communities such as Jehovah’s Witnesses, Evangelicals, and those adhering to other faiths, including Buddhist, Sikh, Rastafarian, Islam, and Jewish, collectively constitute 4.5% of the population.
