Campeche Population Overview
Campeche (Spanish: Estado Libre y Soberano de Campeche) is one of the 32 Federal Entities of Mexico, located in southeastern Mexico. It is bordered by Tabasco to the southwest, Yucatán to the northeast, Quintana Roo to the east, Belize’s Orange Walk District to the southeast, and Guatemala’s Petén Department to the south.
Campeche is the third least populated state in Mexico and the 17th largest by area. According to the Censo de Población y Vivienda 2020, the population of Campeche was 928,363 (0.92 million). Campeche Historical Population
Campeche recorded a population growth rate of 12.88% between 2010 and 2020. During the early 20th century, population growth remained slow, with only minor changes between 1900 and 1940. A significant increase began in the 1940s, and by 1960, Campeche’s population had nearly doubled compared to 1900.
From 1970 onward, the state experienced rapid population growth, especially during the 1970s and 1980s. Since then, the population has continued to rise steadily, reaching more than 928,000 residents by 2020.
