Saint Kitts and Nevis Population 2024

Saint Kitts and Nevis, officially the Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis, is a twin-island country in the Caribbean, part of the Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles. The federation consists of the islands of Saint Kitts and Nevis and is the smallest sovereign state in the Western Hemisphere by both land area and population, as well as the world’s smallest sovereign federation.

According to the Population and Housing Census Summary Report 2022, the enumerated population of the federation was 51,320. The UN World Population Prospects estimates that the population in 2026 will be 47,847, ranking it 19th in the Caribbean. Saint Kitts and Nevis covers a total land area of 261 sq. km (101 sq. mi).

With its small population and limited land area, the federation has a population density of approximately 124 people per sq. km. It is an independent sovereign nation, with its capital city, Basseterre, located on the island of Saint Kitts.

Religion in Saint Kitts and Nevis

Saint Kitts and Nevis people are mainly Christians (90%). Among Christians, Majortit are  Anglican, Methodist, and other Protestant denominations. Roman Catholics are pastorally served by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saint John’s–Basseterre, and Anglicans by the Diocese of the North East Caribbean and Aruba. Hinduism is the largest non-Christian religion, followed by 1.82% of the population, primarily Indo-Kittitians and Indo-Nevisians. Non-religion accounts for 8.1 % of the population

The federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis is divided into 14 parishes — nine on Saint Kitts and five on Nevis. The capital of the federation, Basseterre, is located in Saint George Basseterre Parish on Saint Kitts.
