Chile Population 2024
Chile, officially the Republic of Chile, is a country in western South America. It occupies a long, narrow strip of land between the Andes to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Chile is the southernmost country in the world, the closest to Antarctica.
The last population and housing census was conducted in 2017, revealing a total of 17,574,003 people. Of these, 8,601,989 (48.9%) were male and 8,972,014 (51.1%) were female. As per the UN World Population Prospects report, the estimated population of Chile in 2024 is 19,658,840 or 19.6 million

Religion in Chile
Christianity is the largest religion in Chile and 90% of population follow Christianity. Among Christians in Chile Catholics have the most adherents.
For Latest figures, According to the 2020 report by the Latino barometer, 50.6%% of the population followed Roman Catholicism; 8.4% Evangelical Protestantism; 0.2% Adventist, 0.1% Jehovah’s Witnesses, and 0.7% Mormon.
As of 2020, around 36% of the population declared to be religiously unaffiliated 35.1% of the population follow No religion, 0.4% Agnostic, 0.5% Atheist and another 3.8% don’t know or have no answer about religious choices.
Religions such as Judaism and Buddhism, and more recently Hinduism and Islam, are present due to immigration.

Race and Ethnicity in Chile
Chile is a multi-ethnic nation, home to people of different races, ethnicity, and national backgrounds.
As per an estimate 52.7% of Chileans were white, 39.3% were mestizo, and 8% were Amerindian or Indigenous people.
Mestizos traditionally denotes Amerindian and European ancestry (mostly Spaniard ancestry).
White people are mainly Spaniards, and there was never large-scale immigration from other European countries such as that to Argentina or Brazil. Most of the immigrants to Chile during the 19th and 20th centuries came from France, Great Britain, Germany, and Croatia, among others.
It is estimated that about 5% of the population (800,000) is descendant of Asian immigrants, chiefly from the Middle East (i.e. Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese, see Arab Chileans). Most of these are Christians from the Levant, of whom roughly 500,000 are Palestinian descendants, mostly Christians, are believed to reside in Chile. Additionally, about 18,000 – 25,000 Jews reside in Chile.
Also, roughly 500,000 of Chile’s population is of full or partial Palestinian origin, and 800,000 Arab descents. Chile currently has 1.5 million of Latin American immigrants, mainly from Venezuela, Peru, Haiti, Colombia, Bolivia and Argentina.
In recent years, Chile has had a growing East Asian population, mainly from China, but also from Japan and South Korea . The earliest wave of East Asian immigration took place in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, mainly Chinese and Japanese contract laborers.
