According to the Statistics Office, a total of 387,800 people lived in Iceland at the end of the fourth quarter of 2022, 199,840 men, 187,840 women, and 130 transgender/other. The number of citizens increased by 2,570 during the quarter. 247,590 people lived in the capital area, while 140,210 lived in the countryside.
