Religion in Belize
Christianity is the largest religion in Belize and 74.3% of the population follows Christianity. Among Christians in Belize, Catholics have the most adherents followed by the Protestants
According to Census 2010, 40.4% of population are Roman Catholic, 31.8% are Protestants, 1.7% are Jehovah’s Witnesses, and 0.4% are Mormon.
Other Non-Christian-based faiths population is at 9.6%. Non-Christian Faith includes Jewish, Islam, Baháʼí Faith, and Buddism are the main minority religions.
15.6% of the population don’t affiliate with any religion.

Race and Ethnicity in Belize
Belize is a multi-ethnic nation, home to people of different races, ethnicity, and national backgrounds.
48.90% of the people identified themselves as Mestizo (mixed race people of Amerindian and European descent, typically from Spanish colonists), 21.10% identified themselves as Creole (descendants of enslaved sub-Saharan Africans and intermixed with other belize groups.
Maya people (Indigenous) account for 11.30% of the population and 3.9% are East Indians (Indo-Caribbean)
The Garifuna (Afro-Belizeans are a minority population (6.10%) in Belize, they are mix of West/Central African, Arawak, and Island Carib ancestry.
The remaining 5% or so of the population consist of a mix of Indians, Chinese, Whites from the United Kingdom, United States and Canada, and many other foreign groups brought to assist the country’s development.
The 20th century saw the arrival of more Asian settlers from Mainland China, India, Syria, and Lebanon.
